Alexis Pauline gumbs’ rhythms and conversations with Sylvia Wynter captivate me. Gumbs allowed me to hear Wynter through mind boggling citations. She centered ceremony not revelation or preaching. I unfurl my toes. Allow my teeth to rest tonight. No need to become sand yet. No need to lock in my jaw. Not for the waves that come (Anguilla, 58+). I was never this excited to trace citations. And to sit with them. A ceremony indeed. A celebration of vastness of our being & letting go of who I think I am. And instead be with: who I am. Who I am not. What they don’t tell us. What they tell us. Stories we don’t tell. Stories we live. Unhook. Unhook. Let hooks in. She’ll shed and show you love. You are not who you think you are. I’d like to believe I am becoming.

a real bio, if i must..

i am an Amman-based writer, editor, and story-teller/gatherer. currently, i am interested in the intersections and interconnectedness between body, memory, forgetfulness, liberation, fugitivity, land, the archive, and futurisms. i enjoy formulating questions that allow me to build worlds and burn others. especially questions that allow me to widen my sensibilities and expand my imagination; what is possible.
